Cromer Roof Repairs: From Rusted Valleys to Repointing

Our work began on the left side of the house, where we carefully stripped the existing tiles to access a heavily rusted valley. We completely removed the old valley iron and replaced it with a new one. This ensured a long-lasting and effective seal. We then meticulously reinstated the existing tiles, making sure every piece was perfectly aligned and secure.

Next, we focused on the other valleys on the roof. Instead of full replacement, we applied a durable rubber membrane to all remaining valleys, providing an excellent layer of waterproofing. To further secure the roof and prevent future issues from high winds, we also clipped all the tiles and re-cemented where needed. We finished this part of the job by expertly pointing all the ridge caps and barges, giving the roof a clean and robust finish.

The right side of the house presented a different challenge with its split barge boards. We completely replaced the old, worn boards with new timber barge boards. To guarantee their longevity, we added a fibre strip and finished the job with a new layer of sand and cement, topped off with a flexible Flexipoint finish. This provides a smooth, durable, and weather-resistant surface.

To ensure the safety of our team and the quality of our work, we arranged for the installation and removal of scaffolding on the right side. This provided safe access to the gables, allowing us to perform the repairs efficiently and securely. During the project, we also discovered and replaced some heavily rotten timber work that was a potential hazard.
